Frequently Asked Questions

Is this compress really free?

Yes, completely free with no hidden costs, no signup required, and no file size limits. Picxor runs entirely in your browser.

Does Picxor upload my files to a server?

No. Picxor processes all files entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device and are never uploaded to any server.

What is the difference between Screen, eBook and Print quality?

Screen quality re-renders pages at 72 DPI - best for reading on screen, smallest file size. eBook quality uses 150 DPI - good balance of size and clarity. Print quality uses 300 DPI - suitable for printing. Prepress mode only optimizes without re-rendering, preserving maximum quality.

Why isn't my compressed PDF smaller than the original?

PDFs with mostly text compress very little since text is already compact. PDFs are hardest to compress when they contain already-compressed images or were previously compressed. If the output is not smaller, the tool shows a warning but still lets you download. Try a lower DPI setting.

Is there a file size limit?

Picxor can handle files up to 100MB. Very large files may take longer as processing happens in your browser. For files over 50MB, closing other browser tabs helps.
